Analyzing the Failure of Marvel’s Avengers: A Closer Look at What Went Wrong
Only three years later it closes its doors with a serious economic and playable problem.
Project xCloud is a cloud gaming service that enables you to stream Xbox video games on your Android device. Offered by Microsoft, this project is similar to the developer’s Xbox Console Streaming. However, it doesn’t require an Xbox console or any games installed on your device, as it can stream directly from the cloud. Project xCloud is still in its testing phase, so to try it out, you have to register and be chosen.
For this app, you’ll need the following. First, your device must be Android version 6.0 or higher and has a Bluetooth version 4.0 and above. There’s no touch control support, so you’ll also need a compatible Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth. You can get an optional clip accessory to connect your device and controller. You’ll need 5GHz Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection of 10Mbps-down, too.
You have to register for the Project xCloud as it is by invite only. This needs a Microsoft account; you can make one for free while registering for the service. If you’re chosen, you will get an email detailing the next steps. However, do note that selection may take several months as the project accepts only a limited number of participants in the initial test. It will gradually increase that number over time.
Once accepted, you must install the Xbox Game Streaming App then go to the Project xCloud section. Log in using the account you registered with for the project’s preview. You need to pair your mobile device and controller by either Bluetooth or the gaming clip. When you’re ready to play, simply select from over 50 games in the cloud library. Project xCloud has a dedicated Reddit forum for your feedback afterward.
While it is not yet as fleshed out as other cloud gaming services like Google Stadia or NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Project xCloud offers high-profile games for you to try out. It’s a shame that you still need a controller since your touchscreen can’t be used and that application can take a while. However, this app is still an interesting contender for Microsoft in the cloud gaming competition.
